THE GOODS Elka Suspension offers a new steering stabilizer built for extreme conditions to combat arm fatigue and increase rider control. This fully adjustable unit, made from high-quality, aircraft-grade aluminum material includes adjustments for five different settings: high-speed damping, low-speed damping, return to center damping, the angle between straight and cornering, and cornering damping level. As you can see, this unit covers quite a range of adjustments!
All mounting instructions and hardware are included along with a one-year warranty. Currently, the System 5 is available for the Honda TRX450R and 400EX, the Yamaha YFZ450 and Raptor 700R, and the Suzuki LRT450R and LTZ400 (which obviously includes the Kawi and Arctic Cat 400s, as well).
THE VERDICT Our System 5 stabilizer installed very easily without the need to unbolt other components to make it fit our Honda 450R (this is always a pleasant bonus when installing new items). We tested the machine at our local MX track; the track had plenty of rough terrain, sharp bumps, and tight rutted turns. On our first ride, we instantly noticed how much smoother and more controllable the steering felt on our 450R. There was no jarring of the handlebars over the choppy terrain and our riders all felt the Honda exhibited a more controlled, predictable ride. One of our favorite features is the ability to adjust the low-speed and high-speed damping independently—the low-speed adjustment helps the machine hold its line over really choppy terrain when you’re going in a straight line, and if you hit a bump or something big, the high-speed damping kicks in and keeps you safely in control. You certainly don’t saw back and forth on the bars like you would without the unit in place. This stabilizer really works great!
The level of adjustability is simply amazing—it’s almost borderline overwhelming. For riders with plenty of experience, the Elka System 5 is everything you’d ever need from a steering stabilizer, and it’s everything you’d ever want!
Hits: High-quality components, noticeably reduced arm fatigue, and increased quad control.
Misses: With so many adjustments, it may be a bit confusing for novice riders.
Rating 4 out of 5
